Local privilege escalation via TVAPI out-of-bounds write
Published Feb 5, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in MediaTek TVAPI on Android 11.0 through 14.0 allows local users to escalate privileges via a missing bounds check. TVAPI performs a write without verifying that its target offset and length remain within the destination buffer. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges and no user interaction; the resulting memory corruption permits local privilege escalation.
