Authenticated private-post disclosure via unchecked AJAX search
Published Mar 20, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Takashi Kitajima Smart Custom Fields 4.2.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read private posts. The relational_posts_search() AJAX handler accepts requested post types and queries every post status without checking the user's edit capability for each type. Subscriber-level access and a valid relation-field nonce are required; disclosure is limited to password-protected or private post content.
