Unauthenticated data exfiltration via exposed staging actions
Published Feb 29, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in WPvivid Backup & Migration 0.9.68 and earlier allows remote attackers to exfiltrate site data or exhaust disk space. The plugin registers restore and staging AJAX actions for unauthenticated requests without capability checks; crafted parameters can copy a site into repeated staging directories or send database contents to an attacker-controlled database. No account or user interaction is required, and repeated staging creation can fill the host disk until the WordPress site loses availability.
