Post disclosure via missing channel-membership check
Published Feb 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 12, 2024
Improper access control in Mattermost 8.1.0 through 8.1.8, 9.2.0 through 9.2.4, and 9.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to read restricted posts. GetPostInfo treated every open channel as accessible and relied on broad channel permissions for other channel types instead of requiring the requesting user to be a channel member when resolving permalink metadata. A valid account and a crafted post containing a permalink are required, and exposure is limited to individual post contents in channels outside that account's membership.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
