Unauthenticated code execution via crafted packet overflow
Published Mar 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2024
Integer overflow in Mitsubishi Electric MELSEC-Q/L CPU modules allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted network packet. The controller's packet-processing implementation performs an undisclosed integer calculation that wraps on attacker-controlled packet data. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation grants code execution on the PLC.
