CVE-2024-1916Network attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via crafted packet overflow

Published Mar 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2024

Integer overflow in Mitsubishi Electric MELSEC-Q/L CPU modules with affected serial numbers allows remote attackers to execute code. A crafted network packet triggers an integer overflow in the CPU module's packet-processing logic, but the specific field, arithmetic operation, and code locus are undisclosed. The packet reaches the embedded controller without authentication, and successful exploitation runs attacker-controlled code on the PLC.
