Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped pageview metadata
Published Mar 13, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Burst Statistics 1.5.6.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through pageview metadata. The class-frontend.php rendering path reads burst_total_pageviews_count post metadata and places it into page output without adequate sanitization or output escaping. Contributor-level access is required, and the script runs when a viewer with the Show Toolbar when viewing site profile option enabled opens the injected page.
