Unauthenticated administrator-session script execution via logged IP header
Published Apr 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Chad Butler WP-Members 3.4.9.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute scripts in an administrator's browser. The rktgk_get_user_ip function trusts the HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR or HTTP_CLIENT_IP header and stores the returned value as the user's IP without sanitization or output escaping. Exploitation requires a crafted registration request and an administrator viewing or editing that user; the script can create administrator accounts or change site settings.
