Contributor-level database extraction via unprepared shortcode query
Published Mar 20, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
SQL injection in GamiPress 6.8.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to extract database data through a crafted shortcode. The gamipress_earnings handler passes the user-controlled achievement_types attribute into an existing SQL query without sufficient escaping or preparation. Contributor-level permission to create shortcode content is required, and appended SQL can expose sensitive WordPress database information.
