Folder renaming via missing AJAX capability check
Published May 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in SP Project & Document Manager 4.70 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to rename arbitrary folders. The cdm_save_category AJAX handler updates the requested folder name without a capability check tying that folder to the caller. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and the bounded consequence is unauthorized modification of folder metadata rather than file-content access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
