Subscriber-level category clearing via missing capability check
Published Feb 27, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Frenify Categorify 1.0.7.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to clear media categories. The categorifyAjaxClearCategory AJAX handler performs the category-clearing operation without checking the caller's WordPress capability. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and exploitation removes category assignments rather than files or other site data.
