Subscriber-level category renaming via unchecked AJAX handler
Published Feb 27, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Frenify Categorify 1.0.7.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to rename media categories. The categorifyAjaxRenameCategory AJAX handler processes a requested category rename without verifying that the caller has the required capability. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and successful exploitation changes category names but does not disclose data or execute code.
