Privilege escalation via misconfigured access control list
Published May 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 16, 2024
Privilege escalation in affected GE HealthCare ultrasound devices allows physically proximate attackers to obtain operating-system privileges. A misconfigured access control list assigns overly broad permissions to an undisclosed critical device resource, enabling a kiosk breakout to cross the intended privilege boundary. Direct physical access is required; successful exploitation can expose or alter device data and render the ultrasound system unusable.
