Authentication service interruption via kinit option injection
Published Apr 10, 2024 · Updated Feb 25, 2026
Improper input validation in FreeIPA 4.10.1 allows remote attackers to interrupt authentication services via crafted HTTP requests. The login_password handler passes the unvalidated user principal to kinit before its fixed options, so leading hyphens are parsed as kinit flags. No authentication is required, and selected options can disrupt the service or access files and system keytabs under the server process's permissions.
