CVE-2024-1451Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Victim-account actions via unsanitized profile fields

Published Feb 21, 2024 · Updated May 23, 2026

Stored XSS in GitLab 16.9.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary actions in a victim's browser via a crafted profile. The user profile view marks a translated HTML string as safe after interpolating unsanitized pronunciation or pronoun values, causing browsers to parse attacker-supplied markup. Exploitation requires an account to save the payload and user interaction when a victim views the attacker's profile; the reported impact is client-side action as the victim, not service interruption.
