CVE-2024-1443Public exploit

System crash via unchecked IOCTL buffer dereference

Published Mar 7, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

NULL pointer dereference in MSI Afterburner 4.6.5.16370 allows local users to crash Windows via a crafted RTCore64.sys IOCTL request. The RTCore64.sys handler for IOCTL 0x80002000 dereferences the caller-controlled SystemBuffer without validating a NULL lpInputBuffer. A high-integrity process must first obtain the driver handle; successful triggering produces a system-wide blue-screen crash.
