Stored XSS via unescaped calendar widget link
Published Feb 20, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in EmbedPress 3.9.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through a Google Calendar widget link. Embedpress_Calendar.php renders a user-supplied link attribute into widget output without sufficient sanitization and context-appropriate escaping. Contributor-level access is required, and the stored script runs when a user views the affected page, enabling actions or data access in that user's browser context.
