Template upload bypass via object equality
Published Aug 18, 2026 · Updated Aug 18, 2026
Improper access control in DocumentController in OpenBoxes before 0.9.2 allows remote authenticated users to upload forbidden template documents. The uploadDocument action validated the chosen DocumentType by calling getNonTemplateDocumentTypes() and using .contains() on domain objects, so entity equality and proxy mismatches could let a template type pass the check; the fix replaced that test with a DocumentCode template denylist. Reachability requires an account with document upload access, and the result is unauthorized attachment of template-type files to stock movements, shipments, purchase orders, or invoices rather than direct code execution from this flaw alone.
