CVE-2024-13976

Elevated code execution via maintenance DLL search

Published Jul 25, 2025 · Updated Nov 22, 2025

DLL injection in the Windows maintenance installer for affected Commvault Software 11.x releases allows local users to execute elevated code. The installer resolves a DLL through an uncontrolled search path during maintenance-release installation and loads an attacker-supplied library with elevated privileges. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access, control of a searched location, and execution of a maintenance update; successful loading grants elevated code execution.
