CVE-2024-1394Network attack vector

Service interruption via leaked RSA contexts

Published Mar 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2026

Memory leaks in golang-fips OpenSSL RSA operations allow remote attackers to exhaust host memory and crash services with crafted public keys. In setupEVP, named return values are overwritten with nil on error, so deferred cleanup cannot free the allocated EVP key and context objects. Repeated encryption or signature-verification attempts using noncompliant RSA keys progressively consume memory; the bounded consequence is a recoverable host or service crash.
