CVE-2024-13870

Firmware downgrade via missing anti-rollback enforcement

Published Mar 12, 2025 · Updated Mar 12, 2025

Improper access control in Bitdefender BOX v1 1.3.52.928 and earlier allows physically proximate attackers to downgrade firmware. In Recovery Mode, the firmware update path accepts an older Bitdefender-signed image without enforcing an anti-rollback version floor. The device must be in Recovery Mode and within the attacker's Wi-Fi range; success reinstalls older code whose known vulnerabilities can then be exploited.
