Administrative access via nonce-free option updates
Published Feb 18, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in Backie Option Editor 1.0 allows remote attackers to change arbitrary WordPress options via forged requests. The plugin_page() function accepts an administrator's option-update request without verifying a WordPress nonce, so attacker-supplied option names and values reach the update routine. Exploitation requires a site administrator to act on the forged request; changing the registration role and enabling registration grants a newly created account administrative access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
