Administrator account takeover via unchecked password change
Published Mar 14, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authentication bypass in Uxper Civi 2.1.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over arbitrary accounts via password changes. The password-change handler in includes/class-ajax.php changes a requested user's password without first validating the user's identity. No authentication is required, but the attacker must know the victim's username; administrator targets yield full site control.
