Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode ticker ID
Published Feb 12, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Stefan Kalscheuer Liveticker 1.2.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via shortcode attributes. The shortcode renderer places the user-controlled ticker ID into generated HTML without attribute escaping, so stored markup is interpreted as script. Contributor-level access is required to save the payload, which executes in the browser whenever a user opens the affected page.
