Authenticated option tampering via unrestricted option name
Published Jan 30, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Improper authorization in Aakash Bhagat Single-user-chat 0.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to modify WordPress options. The single_user_chat_update_login function accepts a requested option name and writes the value login without restricting the targeted option. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to enable settings such as registration or corrupt an option so the site returns errors and denies service.
