Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode id attribute
Published Jan 31, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Samuel Behan WP DataTable 0.2.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via the shortcode id. The shortcode renderer interpolates the id value into a generated HTML attribute without context-appropriate output escaping. Contributor-level access is sufficient; the stored payload executes whenever a user opens the affected page, exposing that visitor's WordPress session context.
