Contributor-level file read via shortcode path traversal
Published Jan 25, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Path traversal in Paul Rosen ABC Notation 6.1.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server files. The abcjs shortcode accepts its file attribute as a pathname and loads that path without restricting traversal outside the intended file location. Contributor-level WordPress access is required, and the demonstrated consequence is disclosure of files readable by the web server.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
