Account takeover via placeholder-email confirmation links
Published Feb 12, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authentication bypass in WPFactory Customer Email Verification for WooCommerce 2.9.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to access accounts. The email-content-placeholder shortcode substitutes a placeholder email when generating a confirmation link, letting a Contributor target any unverified account. Contributor-level access and the Fine tune placement option are required; successful exploitation logs the attacker into the selected unverified account.
