Subscriber-level taxonomy creation via unchecked import actions
Published Apr 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Classified Listing 3.0.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to create category and location terms. The rtcl_import_location() and rtcl_import_category() AJAX callbacks process import requests without checking the caller's WordPress capabilities before creating taxonomy terms. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and successful exploitation adds attacker-chosen categories or locations to the site's stored taxonomy.
