Subscriber-level stored XSS via unescaped display name
Published Feb 11, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in GeoDirectory 2.8.97 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run scripts through a crafted display_name profile value. GeoDir_Admin_Post_View::owner_meta_box() inserts the display name into an option label after escaping only the sprintf format string, then echoes the result without encoding the substituted name. Subscriber-level access is enough to store the payload; it runs when a user opens a GeoDirectory listing editor that renders the owner selector.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
