Subscriber-level appearance changes via unchecked settings update
Published Jan 25, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Boom Fest 2.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter website appearance through plugin settings. The bf_admin_action function accepts settings submissions and writes plugin options without checking whether the requesting account has an administrative capability. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and the demonstrated consequence is limited to changing configured visual themes, animations, fonts, and decorations.
