Contributor-level browser script execution via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Jan 15, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Swarm Interactive ViewMedica 9 1.4.18 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The viewmedica shortcode accepts user-supplied attributes without sufficient sanitization and renders them without sufficient output escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store a payload in a page, and the script executes whenever that page is viewed.
