Stored XSS via unescaped image descriptions
Published Feb 21, 2025 · Updated Feb 21, 2025
Stored XSS in WP Carousel before 2.7.4 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through an image description. The image-carousel editor stores a crafted Description value without adequate sanitization and renders it without output escaping, so an event handler runs when another user hovers over the photo's edit icon. Exploitation requires administrator-level access to the plugin interface and applies when unfiltered_html is disabled, including WordPress multisite deployments.
