CVE-2024-1329Network attack vector

Host file overwrite via archive symlink escape

Published Feb 8, 2024 · Updated Sep 26, 2024

Arbitrary file write in Nomad and Nomad Enterprise 1.5.13 through 1.6.6 and 1.7.3 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite host files. Artifact archive unpacking accepts symlinks that point outside the allocation directory, letting template destinations bypass client safety checks. A malicious or compromised task writes with the Nomad client user's permissions, typically root, affecting host integrity and availability.
