Private-file disclosure via missing directory validation
Published Jan 9, 2025 · Updated Jan 10, 2025
Information disclosure in Drupal File Entity before 7.x-2.39 allows remote attackers to retrieve private files from public paths. The module fails to confirm that a private destination subfolder exists before writing and falls back to a publicly accessible directory when it is absent. Exposure requires a site configured for private files and discloses the misplaced file without reported integrity or availability impact.
