CVE-2024-13206Public exploit

Root privilege escalation via writable init scripts

Published Jan 9, 2025 · Updated Jan 9, 2025

Incorrect default permissions in REVE Antivirus 1.0.0.0 for Linux allow local users to execute code as root after a reboot. REVE service scripts under /etc/init.d are installed with mode 777; the public research associates this default with the reveinstall post-install script. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and a subsequent reboot, when the modified service script runs with root privileges.
