CVE-2024-13161Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Credential coercion via unauthenticated UNC path hashing

Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Absolute path traversal in Ivanti Endpoint Manager allows remote attackers to leak sensitive information without authentication. The VulCore GetHashForSingleFile API passes its strFileName argument to HashCalculator.GetHashForSingleFile, which accepts a remote UNC path and makes the EPM server authenticate to an attacker-controlled share. Network access to the EPM core server is sufficient; the coerced machine-account credential can be relayed to create directory accounts or obtain delegated administrative access, depending on domain configuration.
