Unauthenticated image upload via controllable relPath
Published Jan 27, 2025 · Updated Feb 3, 2025
Path traversal in Social Share Buttons for WordPress 2.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to upload images outside the intended directory. The publicly reachable upload endpoint accepts an image and uses the attacker-controlled relPath parameter to select its destination directory. No authentication is required, and the upload is limited to image content in locations writable by the web server process.
