Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode URL attribute
Published Jan 31, 2025 · Updated Mar 19, 2025
Stored XSS in phd38 WP MediaTagger 4.1.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through a shortcode attribute. The mediatagger shortcode places the result_page_url value in page markup without validating or escaping an injected quote and event handler. Contributor access is sufficient to store the payload, and a visitor triggers its script in the site origin by moving the pointer over the rendered output.
