Contributor-level product disclosure via unrestricted shortcodes
Published Apr 15, 2024 · Updated Oct 31, 2024
Improper access control in WooCommerce before 8.6 allows remote authenticated users to view unpublished and hidden products via shortcodes. The product and product_page shortcodes accept attacker-chosen IDs, visibility, and status values without enforcing the expected WooCommerce or WordPress capabilities before rendering matching records. Contributor access is sufficient to preview a post containing the shortcode and disclose private, draft, pending, trashed, or hidden product data.
