CVE-2024-13049

Code execution via XE parser type confusion

Published Dec 30, 2024 · Updated Dec 30, 2024

Type confusion in Ashlar-Vellum Cobalt 1204.90 allows context-dependent attackers to execute code by inducing an XE file to be opened. The XE file parser fails to validate user-supplied data, producing a type-confusion condition that enables execution in the current process. Exploitation requires a target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file; resulting code runs with that process's privileges.
