CVE-2024-12886Network attack vector

Server crash via unbounded gzip response reads

Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Oct 15, 2025

Denial of service in Ollama 0.3.14 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash the server through a malicious registry's gzip response. makeRequestWithRetry and getAuthorizationToken pass the decompressed response body to io.ReadAll without a size limit, exhausting memory. Exploitation requires an Ollama request to an attacker-controlled API server; the bounded consequence is termination of the Ollama service.
