CVE-2024-12831

Local privilege escalation via uvm_login authorization

Published Dec 20, 2024 · Updated Dec 20, 2024

Incorrect authorization in Arista NG Firewall 17.1.1 allows local users with low-privileged code execution to elevate privileges. The uvm_login module performs authorization incorrectly, granting access to resources normally protected from the invoking user. Exploitation requires prior ability to execute low-privileged code on the appliance; public details do not identify the protected resources or resulting privilege level.
