CVE-2024-12807Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via unescaped header-text setting

Published Jan 28, 2025 · Updated Jan 28, 2025

Stored XSS in Social Share Buttons for WordPress 2.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through admin settings. The plugin stores the Header text before social buttons value without sanitizing it and renders that value on frontend pages without output escaping. Administrator-level access is required, and exploitation is limited to multisite installations or sites where unfiltered_html is disabled; the injected script runs when a user visits an affected page.
