Format-string handling in SonicOS management allows remote authenticated users to crash affected firewalls or execute code. The management component passes externally controlled data as a format string, but SonicWall has not disclosed the request field or function that performs the unsafe formatting. Administrative access to a network-reachable management interface is required; exploitation can stop firewall service or run code with the appliance's privileges.
