Contributor-level metadata disclosure via pmpro_member shortcode
Published Mar 11, 2024 · Updated Mar 28, 2025
Improper access control in Paid Memberships Pro before 2.12.9 allows remote authenticated users to read other users' metadata. The pmpro_member shortcode accepts attacker-chosen user_id and field attributes and renders the selected user's custom-field value without requiring the edit_users capability. Contributor access is sufficient to place the shortcode in a post or widget, exposing any guessed metadata key for any specified user account.
