Code execution via unchecked JPG parsing
Published Jan 27, 2025 · Updated Jan 27, 2025
Memory corruption in National Instruments vision software allows remote attackers to execute code when a user opens a crafted JPG file. Vision Assistant writes past an allocated structure while parsing unvalidated JPG data, while Vision Builder copies an unchecked JPG length into a stack buffer. Exploitation requires delivery of a malicious page or file and user interaction; code runs in the affected application's process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
