CVE-2024-1273Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Contributor-level stored XSS via unsanitized profile fields

Published Mar 11, 2024 · Updated Aug 28, 2024

Stored XSS in Squirrly Limited Starbox before 3.5.0 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through account profile fields. The account-editing flow stores a crafted URL-like value containing an event-handler attribute and later renders it without sufficient sanitization or output escaping. Contributor-level access is sufficient, and the script executes when another user views the affected author content, enabling actions in that viewer's WordPress session.
