Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode class attribute
Published May 15, 2025 · Updated May 20, 2025
Stored XSS in Twitter Bootstrap Collapse aka Accordian Shortcode 1.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript. The collapse_group shortcode writes its class attribute into page markup without validation or output escaping, allowing an injected onmouseover event handler to persist. Contributor-level access is required to embed the shortcode, and exploitation occurs when a visitor moves the pointer over the rendered content, exposing data and actions available to that visitor's browser session.
