Stored XSS via unescaped error attributes
Published May 15, 2025 · Updated May 20, 2025
Stored XSS in WPKube Simple Basic Contact Form before 20250114 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through plugin settings. The Error Field Attributes setting stores JavaScript-bearing HTML attributes without sanitization, then emits them in a rendered validation error without output escaping. Administrator privileges and disabled unfiltered_html capability are required; a user must trigger the form error and interact with affected controls before the script runs in that user's browser.
